Oh, Samsung, you international rascal. Anybody remember all those Samsung video commercials pointing out how terrible iPhone is and how stupid iPhone customers are? Yes, you’ll have difficulty finding those commercials because Samsung’s public relations and advertising folks were up all night trying to delete them before Galaxy Note 10 launched.
Without a headphone jack.
That’s right. Samsung pissed on Apple’s iPhone without a headphone jack for years. Then launched its own smartphone without a headphone jack.
Guess what? Dongles are back, baby!
Samsung Galaxy Note 10 doesn’t include the 3.5mm socket, even though it’s the phone that would have been most likely to keep it around.
No it’s not.
Samsung does this kind of thing all the time. Not only does Samsung lie about smartphone performance in an effort to keep up with Apple, the Korean conglomerate has no qualms about stealing features from iPhone.
Note has always been Samsung’s “everything phone” — a phone for people who want all the hot new features instead of having to choose.
Yep. Now Galaxy Note has everything, including no headphone jack. Just like iPhone. Back in 2016. Back when tech writers were totally hostile to anything Apple did to move smartphone users into the future.
Didn’t the headphone jack get invented by railroad engineers in the 1890s? I thought I read that someplace.
I still have to agree that removing the headphone jack seems user-hostile for no particularly good reason, and Samsung should know that better than most.
Get real. A battery that only lasts all day is user hostile. A $1,000 smartphone is user hostile.
Competitors claimed that desirable features like waterproofing, wireless charging, and headphone jacks couldn’t all fit in the same phone, it was Samsung that proved, year after year, it was possible to cram everything into one.
That leaked. And was the size of a brick. And did not sell very well (true story; iPhone outsells all of Samsung’s premium Galaxy models combined– I read it on the internet, and you know they can’t put it on the internet if it isn’t true, right?).
Samsung just has to pretend it never made fun of Apple for doing the same damn thing. Because even if you try to delete these videos, Samsung, the internet has a long memory.
Yes, and when the last headphone jack dies we’ll all remember who couldn’t figure out that the future was headphone jack-less.
